TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

2 Tawarikh 36:14

Konteks
36:14 All the leaders of the priests and people became more unfaithful and committed the same horrible sins practiced by the nations. 1  They defiled the Lord’s temple which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.

Bilangan 16:37-38

Konteks
16:37 “Tell 2  Eleazar son of Aaron the priest to pick up 3  the censers out of the flame, for they are holy, and then scatter the coals of fire 4  at a distance. 16:38 As for the censers of these men who sinned at the cost of their lives, 5  they must be made 6  into hammered sheets for covering the altar, because they presented them before the Lord and sanctified them. They will become a sign to the Israelites.”

Bilangan 16:1

Konteks
The Rebellion of Korah

Ibrani 13:10-12

Konteks
13:10 We have an altar that those who serve in the tabernacle have no right to eat from. 13:11 For the bodies of those animals whose blood the high priest brings 16  into the sanctuary as an offering for sin are burned outside the camp. 13:12 Therefore, to sanctify the people by his own blood, Jesus also suffered outside the camp.

[36:14]  1 tn Heb “like the abominable practices of the nations.”

[16:37]  2 tn Heb “say to.”

[16:37]  3 tn The verb is the jussive with a vav (ו) coming after the imperative; it may be subordinated to form a purpose clause (“that he may pick up”) or the object of the imperative.

[16:37]  4 tn The Hebrew text just has “fire,” but it would be hard to conceive of this action apart from the idea of coals of fire.

[16:38]  5 tn The expression is “in/by/against their life.” That they sinned against their life means that they brought ruin to themselves.

[16:38]  6 tn The form is the perfect tense with vav (ו) consecutive. But there is no expressed subject for “and they shall make them,” and so it may be treated as a passive (“they shall [must] be made”).

[16:1]  7 sn There are three main movements in the story of ch. 16. The first is the rebellion itself (vv. 1-19). The second is the judgment (vv. 20-35). Third is the atonement for the rebels (vv. 36-50). The whole chapter is a marvelous account of a massive rebellion against the leaders that concludes with reconciliation. For further study see G. Hort, “The Death of Qorah,” ABR 7 (1959): 2-26; and J. Liver, “Korah, Dathan and Abiram,” Studies in the Bible (ScrHier 8), 189-217.

[16:1]  8 tc The MT reading is plural (“the sons of Reuben”); the Smr and LXX have the singular (“the son of Reuben”).

[16:1]  9 tn In the Hebrew text there is no object for the verb “took.” The translation presented above supplies the word “men.” However, it is possible that the MT has suffered damage here. The LXX has “and he spoke.” The Syriac and Targum have “and he was divided.” The editor of BHS suggests that perhaps the MT should be emended to “and he arose.”

[8:1]  10 tn The term ἀναίρεσις (anairesi") can refer to murder (BDAG 64 s.v.; 2 Macc 5:13; Josephus, Ant. 5.2.12 [5.165]).

[8:1]  11 tn Or “severe.”

[8:1]  12 tn Grk “Now there happened on that day a great persecution.” It is less awkward to say in English “Now on that day a great persecution began.”

[8:1]  13 map For location see Map5 B1; Map6 F3; Map7 E2; Map8 F2; Map10 B3; JP1 F4; JP2 F4; JP3 F4; JP4 F4.

[8:1]  14 sn All. Given that the Jerusalem church is still active after this and that the Hellenists are the focus of Acts 6-8, it is possible to argue that only the Hellenistic Christians were forced to scatter.

[8:1]  15 tn Or “countryside.”

[13:11]  16 tn Grk “whose blood is brought by the high priest.”
